P.O.H.E: Product of His Environment

Who could ever forget this infamous line, “My style is impetuous. My defense is impregnable, and I’m just ferocious. I want your heart. I want to eat his children. Praise be to Allah!” or even better “I want to rip out his heart and feed it to him. I want to kill people. I want to rip their stomachs out and eat their children.” I remember spending countless hours with friends slugging our way (more like pressing A, B, and Start) through the likes of King Hippo, Great Tiger leading to matchless Mike Tyson, on Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out. That was eons ago, when Nintendo was the shit and Sega was the ugly stepsister that just couldn’t contend…when Tyson was both feared and revered, when he could still get endorsements…before he got convicted of raping a beauty pageant; ultimately spending three years in prison….that was then this is now.
Recently, Tyson’s name has being circulating around news outlets (speaking of the news, what ever happened to coverage or any discussion about the events that transpired in Charleston, West Virginia hmmm…..swept under the carpet I suppose)now 41 years old, he faces a maximum of 4 years and three months if convicted for possession of the “white lady” in addition to DUI charges. In the age we live in, celebrity status does not seem to warrant any jail time for possession of cocaine and DUI, even if the celebrity in question is a has-been, rehab seems to be the apparent fad for celebrities. In either case, tyson has already served time behind the walls for a crime I definitely don’t condone…ranks right up there with pedophilia in my opinion. Serving time already took everything he attained through his prominence as a boxer; it took away any resonance of success. Tyson is clearly a product of his environment, having been brought up in meager surroundings, and eventually associating himself with the wrong individuals during the height of his success. Prison cannot reform this man even it’s for a second go round…let him live…send him to REHAB ! I’m gonna leave y’all wit 2 of my favorites from Tyson, a quote, and a scene from Black and White, a shitty movie but enjoyable nonetheless enjoy!
“When you see me smash somebody’s skull, you enjoy it.”-referring to his audience.(I definitely think there’s some truth to that). Click here for the epic clip from Black and White.
